The Dance With Dragons Thread

For those who have already read the book we've been waiting for since I was in the Greymane Exiles.

I'm tired as hell after reading the whole thing and should probably show up for work tomorrow, but just one thing - go back and look at Wyman Manderly during the wedding feast. Look at what he's eating. Think about the song he requests. Think about the missing Freys.

The north remembers. That fat man might be the hardest, craziest motherfucker in Westeros.

Debating whether I ought to go back and reread the earlier ones, or just grab this and go. I think I remember most of the plot threads, but there are so damn many of them it's hard to be sure.

Yeash finally.

Unlike other books, this series doesn't get on my constantly re-read mental list, so it's been a loooooooonnnnnnnnnng time since I last read them. Years.

Jon just got knifed like a bitch. I am now starting a bet that, in six years, I plan to pay out in game gold for whatever game we're playing.
Possible bets for his outcome include:

  • He actually bites it and stays dead (1:1)
  • Bites it, and for some reason becomes an Other like Bran's ranger friend (4:1)
  • Dies, but shunts his consciousness over to Ghost via some skinshanger trick (3:1)
  • Grievously wounded but survives (7:3)
  • Melissandre gets involved in some way and prevents/averts death (5:2)
  • Bran gets involved in some way and prevents/averts death (6:3)

Any other theories? If they're good, I'll take those bets too.

Combination of these two. Mel's involvement is predicated on the fact that Jon Snow is Azor Ahai, reborn under a bleeding star (the bloody surcoat of the knight killed by Wun Wun) in smoke (wounds smoking in the cold) and salt (Bowen Marsh's tears).

It is known.

Jon Snow dies and Wyman Manderly eats him in a pie.

Is there any chance that this thread can be moved to the Spoilers forum for a while so that those of us poor souls who either don't have or haven't finished the book yet can more easily avoid it?
