See, I found out about this last night, from a call from a friend of mine who works for the Universal theme parks in Orlando. He was anguished.

I do have to wonder what this entails for the future of said theme parks. Otherwise, though, it looks like this was probably just a case of one corporation seizing the chance to gain new licenses by bailing out another that was about to crash.

lol economy =_=

(Kingdom Hearts Melee: Final Fantasy vs. Marvel, though?)

Potentially horrifying, but if Disney does the smart thing and follows the same "Give them money and leave them alone" strategy they use with Pixar, this could actually be really good for Marvel.

Personal isn't the same as important.

Well, the deal allows Fox to keep the rights to the characters it already has, provided they continue making movies with them.

Oh joy.

It's really hard to say. Eisner's been out as CEO for a while now, and he wasn't particularly popular, but I'm not sure who they've now got in charge and what they're like. Pixar's an interesting case, as they practically are Disney's entire animation/film department now (that one movie a couple years ago, Bolt, was Pixar in all but name--check the credits).

They've also proven they're unafraid to slap their name on non-kiddie fare (See Pirates of the Caribbean), and, well, haven't mishandled the Muppets too badly since they bought them.

I sincerely doubt they'll venture into crossover territory. With the caveat that if I am proven wrong, it better be fucking awesome.

I, for one, would pay to see a Deadpool/Ursula buddy comedy.

I would imagine and hope that Disney's ownership of Marvel will be a bit like their ownership of Miramax. You wouldn't really be able to guess that Disney owns Miramax.

You mean Kingdom Hearts 23 - where Disney, Square, and Marvel universe characters all intermingle.
