I'm kinda kicking myself for forgetting about these, but the Ace Combat games have amazingly good music for a series of kinda cheesy arcade flight sims.

Re: Amazing Game Music
I made a mistake. I've left out what I strongly feel to be the single greatest vocal theme to a video game ever sung:
From Legend of Mana (Seiken Densetsu 4): Song of Mana, brought to us by Yoko Shimomura and Annika Ljungberg.
I could wax poetic on why it's so great, but it's better that you just listen to it--especially if you're familiar with the Seiken Densetsu/World of Mana series to begin with (particularly the earlier ones, which are easily some of the best action-RPGs ever made).
(FYI; the language is Swedish. Don't ask why, it just works.)
In response to Ele's last post: That Ace Combat stuff is damn cool. I see myself stealing some to play in the background during action scenes if I ever GM a Dark Heresy/Rogue Trader game. >_>

Re: Amazing Game Music
I'm saddened no one has mentioned Chrono Trigger's Frogs theme. Or what about Magus's theme? Ooooeeeer if you want something kiddy and cheerful. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tEIURTJKek0 And the Xenogears soundtrack! I -hated - that game, but the music was nothing short of spectacular. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=40A8_h9Uj8o http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EKzqEPgPD60&feature=related
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I3sDh3U49KM&feature=related and -this- song has a way of taking me back. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X6UrOCDiNbE and this. This song was essential to my damn childhood. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G_80PQ543rM you guys can have the epic version.

I'm not a bitch, I just play one in your life.
Re: Amazing Game Music
I need to make sure of something. Namely that this live-performed medley of some of the best themes from Chrono Trigger and Cross (Reminiscence/Chrono Trigger's Main Theme/Scars of Time/Frog's Theme/To Far-Away Times) gets linked in this thread (if it hasn't been already). It's an imperfect recording, but still good.

I'm all man and all machine, a little sicko, little mean
I rock your brains out and you're sure to be damned
I lick your little finger then chew up your hand
for that's who I am: The Biomechanic man.

This gem from DDS2 is my favorite battle theme, considering the secret bosses in this game can last well over an hour and are among the more brutal in any RPG's ever made.

Lesse...
*opens up VG music folder he's cultivated for about 10+ years now*
Well, here's a few tracks one might enjoy.
Classic music for those whose chosen professions run close to Asskicker/Bubble-Gumchewer. Grabbag Original
Or, there's the Megadeth variant. Grabbag Megadeth Remix
Final Fantasy XII - Rabanastre Downtown
Soul Calibur III - The Hour of Destiny
Skies of Arcadia - Bombardment ver. 2 (Probably one of my favourite boss-type musics. In an airship, even!)
Metroid Prime 3: Corruption - Skytown
SSBB - Bramble Blast (A remix to be sure, but oddly soothing. Wrote a story to this.)
CC Red Alert - Hell March (Original)
Also, just about anything and everything from Chrono Trigger.
