What does your character sound like?

Postby Bellesta » Thu Feb 12, 2009 2:18 pm

I always like to put voices in my head of characters I RP with, but I always wonder just how the player imagines the voice of their character and how it differs from mine.

So, what does your character sound like?

Bell sounds like Suzanne Pleshette, if not a bit deeper. Suzanne was an actress who died just over a year ago, after a long, long carrier. Here's a few videos of her voice:

A sexist movie quote
Old scene from If It's Tuesday, This Must Be Belgium
And a more Bellesta-fitting role and tone.

Tarq sounds like this, or possibly this.
Now hang me by this golden noose
'Cause I never been nothin' but your golden goose
Silver tongue don't fail me now
And I'll make my way back to you somehow

I would have to add that Ms. Pleshette also does the voice of Zira in "Lion King II" and the growl-y kinda scary lioness being the voice of Bellesta? I can see that. >.>

Edit later in the evening: So, I would've sworn I checked what all three of those were on Bellesta's post, but then watching them over Jolly's shoulder, I saw the third one was this one I just posted and now I feel very silly. ^_^ I blame my medication!

Okay, Sky and Megara? Can totally see it.

This is Nykk, just change the southern accent to a Northern/Lordaeron-style accent... but the smooth-as-silk deep tones. (Just Nykk doesn't get as terminator as often as Julia does!)

I don't think Aely's voice is quite as low as Shirley's, she's more a mezzo, but the accent is pretty close.

I'll have to think about it for the rest of them.

Fuck yes.

I can't find any clips of the Jeremy Irons courtroom scene in Kingdom of Heaven, but it's excellent.

To me, this reads as; "If they made another Warcraft RTS game and your character(s) got to be in it, who does their unit voiceover?"

I had some trouble finding an equivalent for Lans. I had an 'image' of what he sounded like in mind, but never thought of it in terms of actors. Then Gabby threw a few at me, one of which was Bruce Campbell, but I was like, "nah, too epic". Then she mentioned Jason Statham, who I YouTube'd.

I guess that isn't actually far off!

Now let me tell you, a particular voice was the original inspiration for Norvallen the Death Knight, but it's on a character from a recent animated series that is, let's just say, popular on the Internet.

This means after about a half hour of sifting through YouTube to find nothing but "tribute" music videos based on HOW SOOPER KEWL ^_^ ^_^ ^_^ this character is as expressed through the music of Evanescacoldplinkinpartallicaratesofthecaribbeansoundtrihannatatu, I gave up and considered stabbing myself in the soul a few hundred times. But instead I decided to, out of desperation, just find an interview with the voice actress. Here's Grey deLisle, voice of Avatar: The Last Airbender's Azula, and a few hundred other awesome cartoon characters, being interviewed (by New Zealanders, no less):

Just picture that, only more often sarcastic. As a bonus, you can also envision Norvallen breaking into the "Mandy" voice when you click on her theoretical unit too often.

As a random mention; since Lans is going Paladin, I'm thinking of doing the Recustomization treatment on the Rogue, as I might have muttered about once or twice in channel. The new character sounds exactly like Sheena Easton. True story.

Also, commentary:

Why do I approve of each of these so freaking much?
