News from the Stormwind Gazette!

Places like this, there was always trouble. The warehouse looked seedy, like so many other places Dr. Ofvern had been called to in his career. Poorly shingled, the slats of the walls warped and cracked, broken glass in the few high windows. This was a place where men did illegal business, and sometimes the risk of that business caught up with them. And when it caught up with them, it did so in a violent and messy manner, often leaving corpses in a sorry state and needing of identification. That was were Dr. Vladimir Ofvern, alchemist and corpsologistic scientist, came in.

As always, there were the guards. A mix of young greenbacks and old veterans, securing the scene and making sure that nothing was disturbed. Good men, the Guard. Always important to see the results of ones hefty taxes in action. There, one was waving him over. In the dim light of the early morning, he looked impressively pale under his steel cap.

"Good morning, corporal!" Ofvern offered his hand, looking around wide eyed at the looming warehouse. "What interesting events must I puzzle out today?"

The Guard grimaced, and jerked a thumb back at the doorway. "Eh... might be easier to understand if you just look, Doctor. It's... it's a bit hard to take."

"Er... I see. Well then, suppose I shall just dive right into it." The good Doctor patted the man on the shoulder, and strode briskly towards the door. The acrid smell of bile bit through the morning air, several puddles near the doorway indicating where men had rushed out to be sick. Well, the guards may be a bit squeamish, but Vladimir Ofvern was a man who dealt with corpses on a daily basis. He was a professional, and professionally, he marched into the warehouse.

It took a few moments for his eyes to adjust to the gloom. A single lantern swayed from the drafty rafters, shedding poor light over the whole of the space. Shadows flickered on the walls. Flickered over the sprays that coated them like thick, meaty paint.

Flickered over the chunks of meat and organs that dangled from the chains hanging from the ceiling. Over the gore that covered the floor in pools. All of it complemented by the stench of opened bowels and rotting flesh.

Professionalism be damned. Dr. Vladimir Ofvern bolted for the doorway, vomit already pouring from his mouth.

ARE THE GUARD TRULY KEEPING US PROTECTED AT NIGHT?

Mass slayings in Old Town have the Guard baffled!

The Stormwind Gazette received a firsthand retelling of the gruesome scene discovered early yesterday morning. A mob of bodies, tormented and dismembered by an unknown attacker filled a warehouse on Eagle Street in Old Town. "It was a massacre, there were messages on the walls painted in blood." The guard we spoke to relayed. A massive cleaning crew swarmed the warehouse where the stench could be smelled by nearby businesses and passerbys. "I thought the sewers had come up into the cobblestone." One woman reported.

With all the recent rise in crime since the riots, people in Old Town have been more careful about double checking their locks at night. Unsolved murders have been on the rise, and with this killing not the first of such violent dismemberment, the question comes to the mind of many. Is this a single, careful killer? Or is this a group of sick and twisted fellows?
