Was listening to Korpiklaani's Wooden Pints and was thinking "This is THE dwarf song."
There's men, underground
Who have never seen the sun
But they really know how to party
Little men from underground
Who have never seen the sun
But the really know how to party
[Chorus:]
The rise their wooden pints and they yoik and sing
And they fight and dance 'till the morning
Tables full, reindeer meat
And the camp fire shines and the brick walls are full candles
Tables full, wooden pints
They don't care about their sins
They just wanna get drunk and party
[Chorus]
Long war is now past
Only good men have lasted
They need women, meat, beer and rom
Fight battle full of blood no thoughts about god they just slaughtered killed and tormented

Re: What are you listening to RIGHT NOW
Fuck.
For those of you who actually know my musical tastes, stuff sometimes grows on me, and I get addicted. Case in point, I still cannot stop listening to Touhou (pronounced "toe-hoe", no clue what it means) music.
Never mind that the origin is a fucktardedly difficult series of shooting games starring nothing but girls who dress like grandmas.
This music. Is. Awesome.
I'm linking a dozen or so, which you really should listen to; if you've ever enjoyed video game music at all, you won't be disappointed (never mind the cavity-sweet imagery...it still plays just fine with the window minimized). No deep inherent emotional meaning, maybe, no witty, edgy lyrics or nothin', just really catchy compositions that are incredibly enjoyable. I've also included some remixes, since covers of this stuff are overwhelmingly abundant, and also often awesome.
Sit back, let it kick in. You'll probably get something stuck in your head, but that's okay; working as intended.
Classy-sounding (Cool remix)
You will recognize this deranged little gem if you're familiar with the Internet meme known as "McRoll"(YouTube that if you dare) (Freaky remix)
Epic.
Fucking Beautiful(And this remix is the same song I linked a few posts back, when I first started hearing this. Massively epic full-on choir performance.)
Also pretty, very traditional-Japanese-sounding. (Even more convincingly Asian rock/acoustic cover.)
Really neat, also Asian-atmospheric (And a nice vocal cover, for those who enjoy high-pitch Japanese singin'. For what it's worth, the lyrics are about ghosts and shit)
The word is "bouncy".
Reminds me of Harry Potter? (And a sexy tango redux.)
Pleasant.
Rocking. (And everyone loves Mario Paint covers, right?)
Also the basis of an Internet meme, though an incredibly obscure one(And the meme. As with most, best enjoyed while on drugs. Don't expect to understand it)
And let's leave you with something very uplifting.

Re: What are you listening to RIGHT NOW
Are some of these related to or derived from Wild Arms? I've not played the series, but I have an MP3 from one and I recognize the theme in a couple of those links.
EDIT: Ah, part of the meme link's song is in the Nico Nico Douga medley.

Re: What are you listening to RIGHT NOW
I wouldn't doubt it. The guy who composes that music (who is also the designer, programmer, writer, and artist for those games; they're literally a one-man effort) does a lot of borrowing/referencing, though usually to good effect.Denne wrote:Are some of these related to or derived from Wild Arms? Also, wow. You hit the nail on the head. You get 1000 internet obscurity points!
Re: What are you listening to RIGHT NOW
Aagh dammit. For anyone still paying attention, more goodness from the alcohol-soaked imagination of ZUN:
"Dancing Water Spray" original MIDI-type: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BR2pN7eisHQ
And a full acoustic cover: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iQqUcPwNRtk
I sincerely recommend a listen for anyone who likes upbeat Celtic-ish sounding stuff, and I know at least some of you do.

Re: What are you listening to RIGHT NOW
I should probably confess here that it's very possible that I spent part of this past weekend playing an emulated copy of Touhou. I may or may not blame you. This may very well have occurred following much reading of a Touhou wiki and further listening to music from said series of games.
It's possible I have acquired several of the games and will be playing more of them soon.

Re: What are you listening to RIGHT NOW
Yeah. It does that to you. Which one are you playing?
It's possible I still have yet to beat the one that I've come by, "Perfect Cherry Blossom".
Well, at least not gotten the good ending. You have to clear it on Normal mode or higher and not use any continues. Don't let the happy music, cute characters, and grandma-clothes fool you. These games are evil.
And if it weren't bad enough, I finally took the plunge...and made a Touhou fanart. http://jrinaldi.deviantart.com/art/Teac ... -136418433
If you understand the meme (Merry ⑨-Day, by the way!) then you, too, are lost.

Ella Uso Mi Cabeza Como Un Revolver by Soda Stereo circa '96 (Argentina)
Half-assed translation of the lyrics:
"She Used My Head As A Revolver"
She used my head as a revolver,
and set my conscience on fire with her demons.
I saw myself arriving late, late for everything,
After a brain bath,
I was ready to be loved.
Time passes and now I believe that,
the void is a normal place.
She used my head as a Revolver.
You wouldn't believe the things I've done for her,
cowardly but not without shame.
I was a stone in the water dry on the inside.
That's what it feels like when truth,
is a subdued word.
I was docile as a glove,
and as sincere as I could.
She used my head as a Revolver.
You wouldn't believe the things I've done for her.

Robert Earl Keen, "Feelin' Good Again"
Standin' down on Main Street
Across from Mr. Blues
In my faded leather jacket
And my weathered Brogan shoes
A chill north wind was blowin'
But the spring was comin' on
As I wondered to myself
Just how long I had been gone
So I strolled across old Main Street
Walked down a flight of stairs
Stepped into the hall
And saw all my friends were there
A neon sign was flashin' "Welcome come on in"
It feels so good feelin' good again
My favorite band was playin'
An Otis Redding song
When they sang the chorus
Everybody sang along
Dan and Margarita
were swayin' side by side
I heard they were divorcin'
But I guess they let it slide
And I wished I had some money with
which to buy a round
I wished I'd cashed my paycheck
Before I came to town
But I reached into my pocket
Found three twenties and a ten
It feels so good feelin' good again
There was old man Perkins
Sittin' on his stool
Watchin' Butch and Jimmy John
Talkin' loud and playin' pool
The boys from Silver City
Were standin' by the fire
Singin' like they thought
they were the Tabernacle choir
And I wanted you to see them all
I wished that you were there
I looked across the room
and saw you standin' on the stair
And when I caught your eye
I saw you break into a grin
It feels so good feelin' good again

Thanks to the comments to the videos, yes, I'm aware of this being ⑨-Day. Not sure where the whole ⑨ thing came from, but I've been seeing elements of it about.Lansiron wrote:If you understand the meme (Merry ⑨-Day, by the way!) then you, too, are lost.
Just played the first one so far, which I know doesn't feature the bullet hell that the rest pioneered. I took the second route and got bad ending 2 for using continues. Then I read the translated manual and learned how to use bombs. >.> I'll poke around at them in order, I figure, acquainting myself with them without subjecting myself to going after a continueless run.
