Holy shit, they did the right thing:

http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/threa ... 7278&sid=1
Hello everyone,

I'd like to take some time to speak with all of you regarding our desire to make the Blizzard forums a better place for players to discuss our games. We've been constantly monitoring the feedback you've given us, as well as internally discussing your concerns about the use of real names on our forums. As a result of those discussions, we've decided at this time that real names will not be required for posting on official Blizzard forums.

It's important to note that we still remain committed to improving our forums. Our efforts are driven 100% by the desire to find ways to make our community areas more welcoming for players and encourage more constructive conversations about our games. We will still move forward with new forum features such as conversation threading, the ability to rate posts up or down, improved search functionality, and more. However, when we launch the new StarCraft II forums that include these new features, you will be posting by your StarCraft II Battle.net character name + character code, not your real name. The upgraded World of Warcraft forums with these new features will launch close to the release of Cataclysm, and also will not require your real name.

I want to make sure it's clear that our plans for the forums are completely separate from our plans for the optional in-game Real ID system now live with World of Warcraft and launching soon with StarCraft II. We believe that the powerful communications functionality enabled by Real ID, such as cross-game and cross-realm chat, make Battle.net a great place for players to stay connected to real-life friends and family while playing Blizzard games. And of course, you'll still be able to keep your relationships at the anonymous, character level if you so choose when you communicate with other players in game. Over time, we will continue to evolve Real ID on Battle.net to add new and exciting functionality within our games for players who decide to use the feature.

In closing, I want to point out that our connection with our community has always been and will always be extremely important to us. We strongly believe that Every Voice Matters, ( http://us.blizzard.com/en-us/company/about/mission.html ) and we feel fortunate to have a community that cares so passionately about our games. We will always appreciate the feedback and support of our players, which has been a key to Blizzard's success from the beginning.

When that many customers scream foul, even Activision has to listen.

And, yeah, Lans, it is an oddly more common thing than it may seem. We have a really, REALLY good circle of players between the Riders, Rose, Boomsticks, SWU, ect. Outside of that inmost cases, you may as well be on \b\ with graphics.

OH THANK FUCKING GOD. I can resubscribe the minute I get home. O thank God.

And thank you, Threnn, for linking that so I don't spend the rest of my work day worrying about whether I was just going to have Shad disappear into the Dream or what...

This has been a scary week.

Damn straight, giving a relieved sigh to this. Thank you thank you thank you!

Still wonder how many folks actually called those numbers of Blizzard employees that were put up on MMOChmp last night, very sure everything in office land was hellish these past few days.

And as to the stalking bit, been stalked by an ex. He went to the point of following me around at a distance for a few weeks to learn my habits just to catch me at a point where I was away from people and distracted enough not to see him coming before he could corner me. He's currently been behaving enough after four years to be placed back on speaking terms. But see him again? Give him my address or a hint of where I'm living? Hell no, waiting with baited breath when Mr. Lunatic finally moves out of my state and goes onto California as he keeps mentioning.

I've avoided vent for the most part, or stuck to raids that had fellow women/married couples/friends in them in the past, still, takes a bit of poking and prodding to get me to talk vent wise.

Two guys that have admitted to having feelings for me, or the I like the player of the character only because I love the character herself, one of which quit the game because it was that much of an issue for him. That he actually thought about coming down to my neck of the woods, and didn't want to see what could happen if he continued to think about it, apparently was getting bad and needed that much of a abrupt cutting off.

The other, we've just tried to keep it firmly in the friend-zone. My better half jokes that I'm his online girlfriend considering he IM's me daily to check in on how I'm doing.

Emerald Dream, I got cursed out that I wasn't paying attention enough rp wise to a fellow guildy's character, that they pressed fellow guild members for information about me, and attempted to turn my own husband against me by claiming to him that I was planning to leave him for this fellow. Was mad that every moment I was online even raiding wasn't spent with him, went from whining to very insulting talk, took any rp I did with him out of context, as in that everything that I did IC was being translated to how much I wanted him OOC. And yea, he got booted from the guild after aggressively going after me and two other confirmed females in the Darkclaws, I moved Krahe and a majority of my horde characters to Feathermoon.

It's odd, for me, Alliance for the most part has the folks that seem to behave far more rationally (heh), I've appointed myself momma bear to a few friends Horde side who've tied themselves to some real jerks, some of which who wanted them to pull me over to try their chances at getting into my own pants. But the stories I've heard from them, and the logs I've seen, just make me very glad not to be in their shoes.

You know if anything, these tales just further go to show how incredibly damn good our thing here is.

Anyway. In celebration (not really, but it's coincidental enough to feel like it) I'll be updating my art threads for the first time in a while later. If any of you happen to catch Shaila or Miahala (in chat somewhere, assuming not in WoW), tell 'em to check their PMs here. :D
