Naro: I'm pretty sure the Rabanastre theme you linked still remains my favorite "town theme" of any game I've played to this day.

This thread needs more stuff. Do any of you recall an obscure but well-regarded (by those who played it) Playstation game called Valkyrie Profile? It was most definitely one of the strangest games, gameplay-wise out there...a side-scroller RPG with platformer elements and a battle system that honestly has to be experienced to be believed. Story premise is simple: You are a Valkyrie, servant of Odin, and Ragnarök is approaching. Go forth and recruit fallen mortals for the war! Since basically the lead-up to every new party member you get is the story of their death, it would have been a really, really depressing game to play...if not for a persistently upbeat, epically anachronistic soundtrack that it rocked out with during dungeon-crawl sequences (which complemented the more melancholy story/town themes surprisingly well).

Intro Music - Epic Tale of a Holy Death (ah, Engrish)

"Opening Theme" Music - Take Flight (anime-style opening video included)

Battle theme - The "Unfinished Battle with God" Syndrome (love that name)

Boss fight - Confidence in Domination

World Map - Sky Gate (And a sweet remix that incorporates Requiem of a Predicament, the music best as described as the "Please-Wait-Locating-Signficant-Mortals-About-To-Die" theme)

One of the early dungeons - At the Bottom of Hell Lies Distortion

The music that plays after you beat the boss of a dungeon, replacing the dungeon's regular music: Condemned Thoughts (Not many games do this. I wish more did. It gives off the perfect feeling of fuck yes, I rocked this place, I shall now strut my bad self out. Hell, I wonder if it's possible to make a WoW mod that plays such things after the final boss of an instance is downed...)

Also notable for having some of the most fantastically ham-laden combat voice clips ever, namely: "IT SHALL BE ENGRAVED UPON YOUR SOUL!" *SPROUT WINGS!* *FLASH OF LIGHT!* "Divine assault!" *SPEAR THE SIZE OF THREE OF YOU!* "NIBELUNG VALESTI!!"" *EXPLOSION!* *VICTORY MUSIC!*
