You can find Bioshock for ten bucks new pretty often nowadays. I've not played Dead Space myself, but all the reviews I've heard of it were that Dead Space presented a space version of everything Bioshock had done better the previous year. I finally got to start playing Bioshock this past year when we replaced our computers. Good stuff.
I also find myself coming back to the PC version of Puzzle Quest semi-regularly. It's an rpg where the battles are all conducted via turn-based games of Bejeweled with spells and armaments that influence the game in ways that create a lot of depth and strategy. Best of all, you can tab away from it for as long as you want without ill effect as the only timed puzzles are when you choose to level up your mounts. I've played it and WoW simultaneously in the past.
