So, okay, don't throw rocks at me. I'm only just starting to watch this series, so please no spoilers. For various reasons, I haven't until now had my hands on these episodes (or movie) or wanted to or whatever. But Chris has forced me to start watching it, after being totally blown away that I had been sheltered from such an essential part of nerd culture and history. I've heard all the stories, trust me. I'm just slow on the uptake. So without further rambling...
HOLY SHIT. HOLY EFFING SHIT WHAT. AM I FUCKING STUPID OR ARE WFR LIKE THE SERENITY CREW. WHAT.
Like EVERY fucking episode I turn to Chris and we have to pause it because I start yelling about some story or post or thing the WFR have done in the past. I went nuts over the bar brawl scene(s). I went absolutely ballistic when Mal exclaims "...MIGHTY FINE SHINDIG!".
I literally cannot express my awe and shock and disbelief and pride and excitement and jittery-awesome-holy-shit-fuck-what at seeing Delion come to life in Simon. I can't... I mean... What? I just. It blows my mind that they mirror eachother so much. Like I said, I literally can't express the myriad of emotions that explode when I watch that character. I had never even heard of Simon's existence until last week, and the thought that I have a character that is hopefully as interesting is just, you know. Damn. It makes me want to dive into a huge storyline with Del again.
I feel like a complete and utter dumbshit for not getting so much of this that you guys have just layered through everything for years.
I also feel so. Goddamn. Proud. That I can tell people my crew of RPers are on par and just as awesome as Joss Whedon characters. All of you. There are so many moments where I think "Oh that is so <x> and <x>, wtf." or "Oh man, we totally did that!" or "That moment was so <insert ANYONE here>".
I get it now. I do.
