Hey folks,
Lunar festival- my favorite yearly event, is just a little over a month away. The Lunar Festival is important to Bell's RP for one major obvious reason-
It is the only time you will see Omen in game.
For those who don't know, Bellesta worships Omen as a god of Life and Death, who ushers the spirits into their next realm. He is granted with Elune's blessing, which makes him immortal. However every year he surfaces and must be reigned back into sleep (and his duty) by the one appointed to be his Bloodbeast, (That would be Bell.) by performing the ceremony of sacrifice.
The ceremony is in two parts. First is the sacrifice, in which Bellesta leads prey to Omen and lets him feast. (She thinks it calms him and fufills his hunger) This role has usually been played by a group willing to make level 10 druid alts, go to Moonglade, and get eatted by the big two headed dog. This has also been done by kiting Omen to somewhere where he eats all the NPCs. Could switch it up a bit and have Bell bring the meal to Omen already dead, using a raidboss or something as proxy for the kill.
The second part is when Bellesta assembles a group to take Omen down, tiring out his physical form so he must return to sleep. She believes he may rise a few more times afterward, but it is her ritual that truly begins his decent back into the lake. (the reason to explain why he's likely to be summoned over and over)
This time around I'd really like to invite other people to get involved. The last 3 years I've run this event it's been pretty small, due to either being between guilding or just too busy IRL. It would give people a chance to complete the quest 'Elune's Blessing' (which is one of the achievements for the meta) and get a chance for characters to get a better idea of Bell and her religious ideals.
I'm pretty flexible in how this could be run, and am very much open to ideas... which you know, is why I posted here.
So, ideas, input?

If there is room, Alonora could easily be a part of this. Like I have said before - anything concerning Moonglade, concerns Alonora since one of the tasks of her family has been to watch over the mountain-chain between Moonglade and Winterspring.
I really should write something coherent about the history of the Niralathi at some point, to give y'all a bit more of an insight, since it's something well developed but rarely poked at in RP or in game.
I do love your involving Omen in your character's life, and they way it is done. I'll try to think a bit more on the whats and hows - and if you come up with something fitting, feel free to let me know.
*tramples off, brain bubbling with ideas*
Edited for clarification: Alonora would easily help putting Omen down, but she would very much oppose the sacrifice of innocents and likely work actively to prevent it from happening.

Re: The Lunar Festival ((OOC))
I would like to throw myself into the mix as well, both with Mr. Grumpy in an Omen-taking-on and in the possibility of creating a lowbie Druid to sacrifice. I would enjoy the hell out of that.

But the streets of gold i've yet to find
And at the end of the day all you can do is pray
Without hope well you might as well be blind, yeah be blind
Tomorrow comes a day too soon"

I'm happy to help by making a lowbie dr00d. Heh, again, I'm always happy to help out with Uthas, but I dunno if you want him there.
A rhombus is the kind of rectangle a bitch would draw.
Re: The Lunar Festival ((OOC))
So!
The Lunar Festival has begun, and Omen is stomping around providing achievements for all. He's pretty over-ganked right now, which means any effort to run an RP event to bring him down will likely be frustrating. Hence, I'm going to wait until likely around the 5-7th of February to gather the masses and drive a dog back into his lake.
Before that however, Bell is planning to blindfold and drag druids who failed their bear-training (failing to obtain an animal form) and throw them into Omen's jaws. She will be doing this in full ritual garb and mask- and likely high off something like Firewater. These sacrifices have been convinced they are being prepared to enter another world- and are willing to drink the koolaid to get there. (They just don't know they're about to die painful deaths.) I don't have a date set for this, yet. Ideally it would happen within 2-3 days before the final showdown.
Alternatively, in order to involve more people, a raidboss could be used as proxy for the sacrifice, having Bell deliver the heart of something mighty to Omen and let him feast. My first thought on this would be something like Grull or Mags, but it really depends if we have enough people, and if we want to really want to coordinate that much. Other options would be the World Dragons, or a vanilla instance like ZG for Hakkar's heart. (a level 60 instance would allow us to drag along Fells, bwahhah)

Re: The Lunar Festival ((OOC))
Okay people, plan is to kill Al'ar and bring his still-flaming body all the way through outland and to Moonglade. That's right, time to dive into Tempest Keep again.
Luckly with the addition of Death Grip and our insanely boosted DPS/HP, the bird should be a pushover so long as we don't have any people standing in the fire for long periods of time.
I am aiming for either Feb 7th, Saturday,at 5 PM or Tuesday Feb 10th at 7 PM for the kill. I need to know what days work for people- as I have a limited time window to plan and organize this.

Re: The Lunar Festival ((OOC))
The 7th is tough because that's a half hour before a raid for me. The 10th is even tougher since I'm on the east coast and it's a week night. I might could make the latter, so long as it doesn't take an extreme amount of time - I figure then I have about a 2 hour window at the maximum :/

Pretty much the same for me. I can do it Tuesday, if we get started fast (that's 10 pm EST on a worknight here). Saturday is right out due to Hordeside raiding commitments.Jolstraer wrote:The 7th is tough because that's a half hour before a raid for me.
