Ilarra set down her pen carefully. She reread the journal's fifth entry from top to bottom, then reread it again.
She ran her scarred hands over the black book's black pages, took gentle hold of its black leather bindings, then in one movement threw it as hard as she could across her study. It flapped across the room, knocked a lamp off its perch-- the lamp shattered on the floor-- and thumped against the wall, leaving a shallow crater in the plaster. Breathing hard, she watched it flop to the floor.
There were only three comments in her notebook this time:
Pity Chrystal didn't kill him. Still worried about what happened to this Rozka guy. Hope he's dead.
Figures BB agreed with me about Avira. Good taste there.
...Oh ugh! What the fuck?!
She picked it up, read them, then threw it overhand after the journal.
"Fucking stalker CREEP!"

The Dryad
-Just as I have suspected might happen, the infusions are beginning to take a toll on my Queen. Three nights earlier, she awoke in a cold sweat, screaming in the tongues of various beings. All of the tongues matched the beings that have been imbued in her thus far. The way she shook and convulsed, I was afraid I would lose her.
She becomes confused during the days now as well. When spoken to, she randomly responds in one of the many tongues of her make. I don’t quite understand this, as she’s not been taught said tongues.
Could it be that the infusions are containing a transference of souls as well?
No, that cannot be. It must not be. They’re simply echoes, I assume. Much like the reflexes of a recently dead being; they will fade with time. I have concocted a means of controlling them for now, however.
I’ve had this lovely dryad for quite some time now. While her depression can know no bounds, so long as she is left within range of the tree we brought with her, she is willing to be as submissive as I wish her to be.
I had originally planned to use her ties to the tree to anchor my Chrystal to the estate, but now, I believe I will use her essence to put my Queen at peace with her demons… Oh my, I do believe I just wrote a pun.
-I nearly cried as the dryad was sent into her final sleep this morning. She had been such a good companion over the last few years. She would listen to me speak, not fear me for my hideous appearance, and once I learned to speak her language, she never had negative things to say.
This will be quite the nice change from the random bouts of anger my Chrystal shares.
She was quite eager to receive this transfusion as well. It seems the randomness of her infusions has left her afraid to even go near our child, a fear I admittedly was beginning to share myself. Would be a shame to lose our only son, especially with the intelligence he already shows. Truly, I have a hand in that, but it’s not going to hurt him in the long run. Boundless intellect can only help the boy grow into something amazing to do his mother and father proud.
Things went rather smoothly at first, but amidst the transfusion Chrystal awoke, and began spouting the random gibberish that has haunted us this past week. She grabbed my poor assistant, Juxtar, and crushed his throat with what seemed like minimal ease…
Sad to lose the talented imp, but I was quite proud to see the blood of past transfusions rooting themselves in deep. She’s so incredibly strong now - no woman of her size should be able to do what she does.
Rozka was on hand, however, and he still hold sun comparable strength over Chrystal; and held her down long enough to be put back under so the transfusion could be finished.
-It’s been a week now since the transfusion of the dryad’s essence, and Chrystal has not had a single outburst yet. In fact, she’s been quite pleasant. Getting her to keep her clothes on when walking around the compound has been a pain, but I’ve yet to have a single complaint over this. I suppose it’s a new impulse, but one that will fade. She slept at the dryad’s tree for the first three days after, but hasn’t for the last two.
It will fade when the essence is completely fused.
Look at what I have done, oh Lizara, and your precious Light. I have perfected a flawed creation of your ilk. You were a fool to cast me away all those years ago.
