Drinking and us.

I didn't actually drink, ever, until I moved to Seattle. So uh, you can blame Tarq and Buu. From there I sampled a great many things, and discovered what I like.

Track Town's Honey Orange Wheat Ale
This is the pinnacle of beer for me, I have never tasted anything to beautiful and wonderous. It's likely a good thing you can only get it in Portland for a few months out of the year.

Otherwise, my mixed drinks of choice are generally things that are sweet and delicious, with my two favorites being a good Sangria and a White Russian.

Or Grandpa's whiskey. It has no label, the bottle is dusty, it hits like a truck. He can't remember where he got it.

Abita Turbodog or New Belgium 1554 Black Ale for me when it comes to beers (I like my beer like I like my men, dark and rich.) - but then I also like Blue Moon (with orange). I generally like most beers, so long as they don't end up with that weird clingy aftertaste that I associate with beers made with rice in them (eww).

Lindemans Framboise Lambic - which is technically beer, but also not beer. it's been second fermented with mashed raspberries and tastes like AWESOME. A little pricey.
Woodchuck 802 (Dark and Dry) Hard cider. NOM.

Cabernet Sauvignon is my wine of choice - current "staple" is Little Penguin. Australian Cab, about $5 a bottle, cute penguin on label, and delicious. Also like 50th latitude Riesling, for a white wine. I don't like most white wines though, they just taste sour to me. (And I can't STAND Merlot. Every Merlot I've ever tried - including "really good" and "expensive" ones - has tasted like Acetone nail polish remover. BLEGH BLEGH BLEGH).

Amaretto sours and Whiskey sours are my "hard" drinks of choice. Also a fan of Tequila in Dr. Pepper. (Don't knock it 'till you try it - it's delicious. 1 shot to 1 can is my mix) Pomegranate Martinis aren't bad either.

And, since I probably ought to make this disclaimer - I only drink at home when it's just me and Daug (or very occasionally a family member or two), due to ... well, a number of reasons I'd rather not discuss, so all of these drinks are only things I've actually made myself or can get easily here in Houston. Suffice to say, I don't mind driving at Feathermeet/other social occasions! I've also never been drunk and never had a hangover. And I don't plan to change any of that.

Iced tea is good so long as it's not lemon (really picky about that) and not so sugary it tastes like syrup. Current favorite brands are New Leaf for flavored stuff (but my store seems to be discontinuing it QQ) and Tradewinds for just plain sweet tea. Homemade tea is usually da bomb too. I'll drink soda on occasion, but usually tea and/or juice is all I drink.

Strawberry Daiquiri's are all I've had in the alcohol department. I may try more later but for now, meh. Not really big into drinking

First real drink I ever had was a White Russian. Toasted Almonds, Mudslides... they are a guilty pleasure now, and if there is an open bar? Yes. Not big on the really hard stuff like rum or vodka, but a tasty mixed drink is a treat.

Beer: Blue Moon is my standby, but St. Pauli Girl (Dark), Killians, some Sam Adams... oh, and Strongbow hard cider is to die for. My damned favorite is Chimay Ale - its made by Trappist monks in Belgium, and proceeds are donated to charities. Everyone wins!

Wines: Love earthy ones, but still working on my palette. A good smooth sake is something to be treasured, and mead is damned, damned delicious.

Not exactly alcoholic... but anyone here a fan of bubble tea?

I'm not a huge drinker either. If I do, it's usually margaritas or rum and coke. I haven't met a hard cider that I didn't like, either. As for beer, there's a brewery called Dogfish Head that does a nice IPA and their Midas Touch is good too. http://www.dogfish.com/ They got their start in Delaware, which is where I used to live for a while. I like wine too, and there's a nice vineyard that does a good vidal reisling and merlot.

I'm not a huge follower of the whole alcohol bit, mostly it's a once in a while thing when we're out somewhere for dinner. More for martinis, favorite being a lemon drop, though discovering a new found love in the chocolate department as well. They certainly stop my mother from pushing margaritas and coronas in my direction.

Rest of the time? Tea and pepsi.

That actually reminds me of what my better half had in college, he had gotten it from one of his uncles, was this big glass jug, they had mashed up fruits and I think some sort of rum, and would just keep on doing that, it would get low, more fruit, more rum, so on and so forth, til by the time that he got it, you could smell it from across the room whenever it was opened. My god, stuff was a sweet smelling fire hazard.

Not really a big fan of alcohol myself. I'll try just about any drink once, but I still haven't found anything I like enough to actually want to do more than just try out.

Ales and lagers are usually my favourites. Sleeman's, Guinness, Rickard's, etc.
But I also love the whiskey, mixed or not mixed as the occasion may permit - Crown Royal and Jameson, I prefer.

I cannot overstate my love for tequila. Because I'm a cheap-ass bastard this usually translates into Cuervo, though I have had the distinct pleasure of having tequila as fine as 1921 Reposado, which... well, for those of you who take your tequila with salt and a lime, these additives actually detract from the taste of the beverage; as such, I found it can be drank straight without getting the "ew" face or the shivers that follow a rougher shot. Absolutely delicious, meant to be sipped on ice and enjoyed on its own slowly. Great with a cigar.

More commonly, I'm a rum and coke man. I don't typically mind which brand of rum, but I do greatly prefer Coke and not Pepsi. Also, Diet anything is forbidden in my glass.

As far as beer- I'm an eastern boy born and bred, so one of my favorite beers remains Yuengling, though this doesn't get exported to central, midwestern or western states. Its a great little lager out of Reading, Pennsylvania, and the closest thing I can relate it to is a Liney's amber. A little more bitter, but its close.
