Folks: If you're on The Twitter, check out @greyseer and the other Netherbane Earthen Ring people. They're using Twitter for RP purposes. Greyseer is sending out updates on their story, so when they have their RP times, people are aware that things are afoot. Totally work a look.

Definitely worth a look, but please let's not start actually RPing on Twitter. Not only is that really difficult to do because it requires multiple tweets for each person's input ('cause 140 characters is not enough to say much at all) it then gets spammy, and quite honestly, if I'm not part of someone's RP, I'd really rather not see stilted conversations about it - and if I /am/ part of the RP, I hate trying to catch up, since I'm not on twitter for long intervals anymore. I usually unfollow people who use twitter as a substitute for private chat channel RP.

Updates and announcements, however, are a great idea, and a good way to coordinate.

That's the only way I'd use it. The RP-tweeting is too much, imo, to do. And it won't work if it gets super serious. Updates or developments during down time, however, work perfectly well.

For instance, having Wot, bricu's 'squire' run back and forth when he needs a runner? "Just saw Ginger Dan enter the pig." Would work. Having Bricu and Tiran debate on tactics? That is all fail.

I actually /really/ like the idea of the squires, since that'll be updates and short messages and not actual involved RP. Aely's squire, Ben, could participate similarly!

Strangely, this actually has me vaguely interested in doing this Twitter thing, the way this looks to be shaping up. It might be a way to get a little more involved--if somewhat detachedly still, it's got an appeal.

(Karl, aka Karl Thuzad, aka Lil' KT the anti-bard, undead gnome and Norvallen's aide-de-camp, would serve as enough of a "squire", I suppose)
