The new Battle.net account

Post by Aleros »

I created my battle.net account, linked my WoW account to it, and then went and found all my old Blizzard games and entered their CD Keys into my battle.net account. I can now download any Blizzard game I have linked to my account and play it on any computer via my battle.net account. You can link your authenticator to it of course, and they're saying they hope to add new features like cross game whispering like you could do between Diablo 2 and Warcraft 3, which was a really neat system. This will probably mean if one of your friends is playing Diablo 3 or Starcraft 2, you'll be able to whisper them from other games, and hopefully WoW.

I linked my WoW account to my B.net account, tied it to my Authenticator, and registered all my games yesterday. :D Now, if only I could register my old-school WarCraft Battle Chest (contained WC1, WC2, and WC2x) and the original Diablo from my Diablo Battle Chest, I'd be all set and not have to carry my game discs around with me all the time.

Also, for those of you who have not yet gotten a Blizzard Authenticator security token (for whatever reason), Blizzard is coming out with a new Battle.net Mobile Authenticator, which is essentially a software version of the Blizzard Authenticator that runs on your cell phone.

Yeah, I got my Warcraft 1 and Warcraft 2 CDs out, had the original Version 1.0 CDs for both of those, but realized they didn't have CD keys (Neither did Diablo 1 from the battle chest) then got my copy of the Warcraft 2 battle.net edition which did have a CD key, but it didn't take it, then I read that it just didn't take those games, guess that's because early versions didn't have CD keys and they only started adding CD keys with Diablo 2, Starcraft, Warcraft 3 and of course WoW. But my list is completely filled out.

True, but CD keys aren't the end-all-be-all. I wouldn't be opposed to, say, paying $5-10 to be able to add those games to my B.net profile. ;)
