Crytime is about right.
The co-creator of Dungeons & Dragons, that which is arguably one of the bigges progenitors of the gaming hobbies we love so much, has passed, almost exactly a year after creator Gary Gygax.
This is the guy that, according those stories and anecdotes of old-school tabletop gaming, was the one who really pushed the idea that characters, aside from having the need to grow in power as an adventure went on, were far better played as individuals in their own right, with their own personalities and stories, making for a far deeper experience. In other words, roleplaying, not just numbers and dice-rolling. I think we all can rather appreciate that contribution.
Incidentally, in his latter years, he was a Game Design professor at the college I went to. According to friends who took classes under him, he was never without a gargantuan solid brass d20 on his desk.
