Hi, I'm Roullette.

Post by Israia »

And this is why.

A combination of events has led to me saying this today. I've been meaning to 'come out' to this community and others in many, many things for several months now, and have for several months been telling select people my identity, when I have felt comfortable and ready. With two important people finding out at Bricu's wedding however, and the apparent discussion of guilding Roullette, it is time that I tell everyone who I am, and anything else they might like to know.

When I began Roullette six months ago, it was a dark time for me- the darkest I've ever been at. In creating her, I was mostly looking to relieve boredom with my Warrior(whom I had transferred to Feathermoon a few months before, and leveled up a little, only to lose steam), and began giving her the modest start to a story. Make her come from Westfall, give her a southern accent, make her a proper southern belle and let her be a farmer.

From there, her story grew exponentially over time. Before two days were done, I had the outline to a story I'm still writing to this day. I gave her parents and grandparents, the family she boards with and a teacher at the Stormwind Academy that made her a professional fighter. I even gave her the boy that made her a woman, and later, an adult.

Her life wasn't that sad, nor was it unique. But it was her's, and I've found it beautiful and interesting the entire time I've played her.

Not letting others know that I was her was a decision I made the first night. It wasn't to catch people, it wasn't to trick anyone. It was to let me roleplay without having to consider my own background. Without having to deal with the mistakes and characters I had made in the past. I wanted to be Roullette when I was on her... and I succeeded, wholeheartedly.

I've gotten to better know people as Roullette than I ever did as Israia. I've gotten to see and involve myself in RP that has been exciting, wonderful, and beautiful, and I'm as addicted to the story she is now intwined in as I ever was to Israia's story, or the many stories I've had before that. I love Roullette, and I only want to keep playing Roullette, as Roullette.

To those of you who have spoken to her at length out of character, I was not in an effort to decieve you, if you noticed the stark differences between her personality and the one you know. Roullette, out of character, has become an embodiment of the real me that I can live when I play her, and who has slowly been reaching into every other segment of my life for months. My personality is starkly different now than even six months ago, which was entirely different than two and a half years ago when I first heard of this community. On top of this, Roullette has helped me discover and come to terms with something I've been dealing with for a bit over a year now(my state as a transgender), and has let me feel not only stronger in my decision, but proud of who I am for the first time in seven years.

I hope that me posting this changes little for you. If you feel deceived or lied to, I'm sorry. I made an effort to never outright lie, but it is hard for one to stay anonymous when doing something like this. I hope you also see the me that I have been while I've been Roullette, and realize that is the me I have been trying to be for a long, long time. I'm not done growing by any margin, but now I know what I am, and that changes a lot.

With this, I have no secrets anymore. If you'd like to know more about any of it, or want me to explain anything in greater detail, please, feel free to ask. I absolutely love this community and everyone in it, and I apologize to those who I've ever offended in the past. But perhaps with this, I can extend a hand in friendship to you.

Thank you for letting me be part of this community. I really mean it, when I say it means the world to me.

Honestly, you could have kept playing roullette for months and no one would have guessed.

Thanks for telling us izzy. It takes a lot of guts to talk about everything you mentioned. Thank you.

you want to talk, I got your back.

That's so neat...I Rped with Roullette and I couldn't tell. Course I've barely gotten to know Izzy cause...well my work schedule and I don't get to RP as much as I'd like too.

I've been going through something similar with Takani...I've actually thought about making a toon and not telling people who I am...just to see. Yet, my circumstances are different than yours. Sorry I would share in detail but some people may get angry or upset at me for it.

I'm glad you got to make a Roullette into what you wished and I can't wait to see what you have prepared later :)

((P.S. - You still need to hit me up on Gtalk ;) ))
